Grand Canyon continued its early season undefeated streak with a 79-41 victory over Nicholls State. GCU totaled 19 steals with 38 points off of turnovers. Tiarra Brown scored 12 points and had six steals. Evan Zars finished with 10 rebounds and eight points. GCU has won by scores of 96-51 over Western New Mexico, 109-53 over Arizona Christian, 63-56 over Grambling State and most recently the 79-41 victory over Nicholls State.


After starting the season 3-1, Stephen F. Austin prepares for the Clasico Tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Lumberjacks are scheduled to face Morgan State on Nov. 24 then Boston College on Nov. 26. SFA is currently led in scoring by Kurstyn Harden averaging 14.5 points per game off the bench followed by Aiyana Johnson averaging 13.3 points per game. Angel Scott is currently shooting 12-17 from the three-point line with a 70.6 three-point percentage.


Tarleton gave Nebraska a scare in Lincoln by only trailing by five with seven minutes to go in the contest before losing 71-53 in regulation. Teresa Da Silva scored her career-high of 24 points on 11-of-25 shooting, adding team-highs in assists (five) and steals (two), playing all 40 minutes. It marked Da Silva’s second career 20+ point game, as she leads the team in scoring with 15.4 points per contest on 49.2 percent shooting. The Texans forced 21 Nebraska turnovers, but they were outscored in the paint 50-14. The Huskers also outshot them 30-of-66 (.455) to 21-of-61 (.344).


After losing its first contest against Colorado, the Aggies have strung together back-to-back wins over New Mexico Highlands and an overtime victory over New Mexico 73-64. Next up for NM State is a trip to Denver, Colorado for the Denver Classic. NM State is set to face Yale on Nov. 25 and Denver on Nov. 26. Soufia Innoussa is the current leading scorer for the Aggies averaging 12 points per game and also a team seven steals through three games.


Heading into the week, California Baptist is 14th nationally in scoring offense (88.0) with Grand Canyon ranked 30th at 83.7 followed by UT Arlington being 32nd at 82.8 points per game. Grand Canyon is currently 24th nationally in scoring defense (50.0), 14th in scoring margin (+33.7), 2nd in turnovers forced per game (30.67) and tied for first in winning percentage along with being ranked first in steals per game (20.7). Southern Utah is currently tied for eighth in rebounds per game (49.20). Joining Southern Utah is Sam Houston who is tied for 12th in the same category. Seattle U holds the top spot in free throw percentage (76.5) in the conference while California Baptist is the leader in free throws made per game (24).

Individually, CBU’s Trinity San Antonio is the scoring leader at 23.2 points per game. Southern Utah’s Lizzy Williamson has the rebounding lead at 10.4 per game. SFA’s Kurstyn Harden leads the WAC in field goal percentage (72.7), Sam Houston’s Chyna Allen is the leader in free throw percentage (1.000) and SFA’s Angel Scott is the leader in three-point FG percentage (70.6). UT Arlington’s Jireh Washington leads the league in assists (6.5) and is the leader in total steals with 13. SFA’s Scott is averaging a WAC-best 3.0 three-pointers per game. Southern Utah’s Williamson is also the leader in blocked shots (12) and GCU’s Sydney Palma holds the top assist/turnover ratio (5.0).
