2022 WAC Women's Soccer Release - Sept. 14

SOUTHERN UTAH AT TOP OF NATIONAL RANKINGS
Southern Utah women’s soccer team has maintained a top-25 national presence in a plethora of team statistical categories. The Thunderbirds have the number one scoring offense with 3.83 goals per game and also points per game with 10.67.

UTAH VALLEY BEATS A RANKED BYU SQUAD
The Wolverines beat the previously number 13th ranked BYU squad by a score of 4-2 back on September 10th. The win over the 13th-ranked Cougars is the highest nationally ranked opponent that UVU has ever beaten, surpassing its win in 2021 over No. 25 Memphis in the NCAA tournament. The win is also its first win over BYU in program history.

EIGHT CONFERENCE TEAMS ABOVE .500 WINNING PERCENTAGE
Southern Utah, Utah Valley, California Baptist, Utah Tech, Abilene Christian, Grand Canyon, Tarleton and NM State each enter conference play with winning records. Utah Tech is on a four-game winning streak followed by NM State with their three-game winning streak.

NM STATE READY FOR CONFERENCE PLAY
NM State has not allowed a single goal the entire month of September. The last time the Aggies allowed a goal was during a 2-1 loss to Texas A&M back on August 26th. NM State looks to continue its stellar play on defense to open conference play this coming Friday with a match against Utah Tech.

CONFERENCE PLAY BEGINS THIS WEEKEND
After a competitive slate of non-conference games, the WAC membership begins conference play as the league membership competes for seeding to participate in the WAC Women’s Soccer Championship that will be hosted by Seattle University.
